No guesswork.
Better choices.
Stronger chains.

TTW-Systeem B.V. helps growers and chain partners to better manage cultivation results with independent advice, based on measurements and practical data from the field.

Knowledge partners we work with

Profits are under pressure. Decisions are becoming more complex.

Climate, costs and regulations are changing faster than practice can keep up. At the same time, cultivation decisions are becoming increasingly decisive for yield and security of supply. Without a clear understanding of what is truly happening, uncertainty and risk in the chain increase rapidly. This makes it increasingly difficult to consistently manage quality, yield and security of supply.

Recognisable problems you experience as a grower?

Unpredictable yield and quality

Weather influences, diseases and soil variation cause fluctuations that do not become apparent until late.

Rising costs put pressure on your margins

Working more efficiently is essential to maintain margins.

Lack of real-time insight

Without up-to-date data on soil, crop and climate conditions, it is difficult to intervene at the right time and place.

Recognisable problems you experience as a processor?

Limited early chain insight

Without timely information on crop status and expected quality from suppliers, production planning remains vulnerable.

Variation in supply and specifications

Inconsistencies in sizing or internal quality make process settings less efficient and increase the risk of rejection.

Demand for transparency

Customers and certifying bodies increasingly demand complete cultivation data for quality assurance and reporting.

Recognisable problems you experience as a producer?

Declining security of supply

Potential yield and quality losses at suppliers jeopardise continuity.

Rising costs put pressure on your margins

Working more efficiently is essential to maintain margins.

Increasing compliance pressure

Sustainability certifications and crop registrations are becoming more stringent and require a lot of time from internal teams to fully comply.

What happens in the field, determines what works in the chain

By combining field measurements with practical data, growers and chain partners gain insight into what is really happening within cultivation. This leads to better-informed decisions, manageable risks, and the structural improvement of cultivation results and chain performance. Because these insights are built on years of practical experience, it is not only visible what is happening, but also which choices demonstrably work.

Higher yields

Steering based on what demonstrably works for yield and quality.

Less waste

Discerning deployment of resources and earlier intervention in cultivation.

More predictability

Greater control over supply security and consistent quality in the chain.

More sustainable result

Demonstrably lower environmental impact and better substantiated results.

action predictable result.

When decisions are structurally based on what happens in practice, control over yield, quality, and reliability is achieved. Fewer surprises, less waste, and more predictability in the supply chain make it possible to focus on return on investment. As a result, performance is no longer left to chance, but becomes a substantiated and manageable outcome.

Together, we start by sharply defining cultivation objectives. These can range from increasing the share of product in a specific size grading to improving properties that are crucial for processing or storage. The objective guides all subsequent steps.

Quality starts with the starting material. We assess the quality - from seed to seedling - and advise on the most suitable storage and preparation methods. In this phase, initial optimisation opportunities are identified.

The productivity of a crop is determined by the balance between plant, soil and environmental factors. During the field phase, we combine multiple forms of monitoring and analysis:

  • Parcel analysis and risk assessment - In advance, we identify plot characteristics and potential risks.

  • Variety advice and basic fertilisation - Based on plot data and breed characteristics, we advise on optimal combinations and base fertilisation.

  • Continuous monitoring - several times a month, we measure growth rates, crop and soil nutrients, climatic factors and dozens of other parameters.

  • Data models and forecasts - with growth models, we predict the expected yield (Yield Today), so that deviations can be adjusted in time.

At harvest, we take a sample of the final product and assess both quantity and quality for parameters relevant to the next links in the chain. This enables early coordination with buyers.

Based on crop and harvest data, we advise on the optimal conditions for storage and preparation for delivery, so that quality is maintained until processing or distribution.

All collected data are brought together in a structured analysis presented in the final evaluation. The combination of product specifications and cultivation data gives buyers and processors complete transparency about the final product.

In addition, together we already look ahead to the next growing year: what opportunities for improvement exist, which risks can we limit and which strategy delivers the most return? This way, we immediately translate insights into concrete action points for the coming season.

Frequently asked questions

We are happy to answer all your questions about smart farming. Is your question not among them? Feel free to contact us.

TTW-System B.V. is an independent agricultural consultancy that provides insight to growers, producers and processors in optimising cultivation decisions. We have been combining practical knowledge with technology and data since 1987.

Our consultants sample soil and crops, take measurements in the field and link these data to the decades-old accumulated TTW Data System®. This unique system contains thousands of site-specific observations by variety, plot, soil type and crop. As a result, we not only know what happens in a crop, but also why - and which measures have proven effective in practice.

We conduct our own trials to see what works best in practice. The resulting choices are always based on measurable results in the field - not on commercial interests.

This combination of independence, field research and a non-catch-up knowledge base means that decisions are not made on assumptions, but on substantiated facts that are directly applicable in business operations.

TTW advises on the full spectrum of crop optimisation. This includes soil and crop management, variety selection, fertilisation and watering, disease and pest control, harvest planning and quality assurance. We also provide support in sustainability issues, certification and data reporting to customers and regulators. Where necessary, we also think along about broader business choices, so that each step is in line with the long-term vision. Our starting point is always the same: underpinning decisions with measurable results, strengthening both the crop and the chain.

Targeted data analysis provides insight into the entire cultivation process: from preparation and planning to execution and delivery. By combining data on soil, crop, pests and diseases, climate conditions, varieties, locations and historical results, a complete picture emerges of what a crop needs to perform optimally. This makes it possible to deploy resources, labour and time exactly where they will have the most impact - with less risk, less waste and more predictability in results.

In many cases, improvements in yield, quality and predictability are visible within one growing season. However, the structural effect lies in building up knowledge over several seasons, making decisions sharper and better substantiated year on year.

Yes. The method is applicable to different crops and in a variety of growing conditions. Advice can be tailored per plot and location, which is especially valuable for companies operating in multiple locations or in different countries.

The TTW system is currently applied to crops such as chicory, onions, potatoes, cereals, flower bulbs, cabbages, beets and chicory. If your crop is not listed here, expansion is always possible. New crops are systematically monitored from the first season, providing valuable insights to optimise cultivation within a short time.
